I'm a Professor and Research Scientist at the University of Campinas (Unicamp).

My motivation is to develop technologies to provide users with inclusive, intuitive, efficient, and insightful access to information, leveraging the potential of great minds to solve complex problems and achieve brilliant outcomes.

I've started investigating expressive speech facial animation synthesis and audiovisual speech perception. That's how I entered the world of emotion AI (or affective computing) and multimodal signal processing, interdisciplinary fields spanning engineering, computer science, psychology, and cognitive science.

My playground includes:

  • Multimodal AI for signal processing
  • Audiovisual synthesis (or generative) models
  • Applied Data Science
  • Virtual Production
  • And a number of other fascinating subjects that escapes from Engineering...

I am a STEAM education enthusiast. It is my passion to help educate a new generation of scientists and professionals. From 2018 to 2023 I have been part of the Unicamp's Exploratory Science Museum team.
